Howling for joy! Not only home to bears, the Alternative Bärenpark® is an animal protection project unique in Germany. It enables visitors to see bears and wolves up close in their natural habitat, the aim being to support their conservation. The park developed out of a rescue station dating back to 1955, which sheltered injured and orphaned animals found in the wild.
The beautiful park sanctuary's large open-air terrain with a beech forest, two ponds, and a meadow encourages exploration. There is also a teaching trail, a free-flight aviary with various species of birds, a raccoon enclosure and a petting farm where visitors can learn about the Thuringian goat, the Leineschaf sheep, and much more. Fabulous fun for all ages!
